27th Street Bridge Groundbreaking Event
City of Glenwood Springs officials will host a groundbreaking event on November 14 at 3 p.m. for the 27th Street bridge replacement project outside of Rivers Restaurant.

Crash on Midland Re-routing Traffic
Due to a two-car crash on October 15, 2018, Midland Avenue was closed in both directions below the Meadows. Traffic was re-routed to Wulfsohn Road.

In a joint press release on Hanging Lake, the City of Glenwood Springs and the U.S, Forest Service announced their partnership to manage the Hanging Lake area to protect Hanging Lake's future.

Three Mile Creek Shoreline Work
The Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation Department will begin restoration work along the Roaring Fork River at the confluence of Three Mile Creek on September 24, 2018.

The City of Glenwood Springs River Commission is hosting a river cleanup and celebration on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Two Rivers Park.

Valley Marijuana Council Dedicates $25,000 to GWS Youth
The Valley Marijuana Council (VMC) has dedicated $25,000 to fund summer passes to the Glenwood Springs Recreation Center for local youth. Eligible students include rising 7th graders through 2018 high school graduates from all Glenwood Springs Schools.

Fire Department Replaces Firetruck
The Glenwood Springs Fire Department has added a new, 100’ heavy-duty platform truck to their fleet. The City and Fire Department have been saving for several years to replace an outdated, 28 year old ladder truck.

7th Street Sewer Work
The City of Glenwood Springs will be completing storm and sanitary sewer work along 7th Street through the beginning of July.

Update to City Hall Elevator Upgrades
The elevator upgrade project has been moved from April 30 to May 7, 2018 due to contractor scheduling. The elevator is still expected to be out of order for approximately two weeks.

Wildfire Preparedness Event
The Wildfire Preparedness Event at the Community Center on April 14 will inform the public on strategies to help prevent wildfires and what to do if one occurs.

Two Opportunity Zones Nominated in Glenwood Springs
Governor Hickenlooper and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trades (OEDIT) have announced 126 Colorado census tracts as Opportunity Zones with two in Glenwood Springs. The two Opportunity Zones in Glenwood Springs include the 6th Street Corridor and the Downtown and Commercial District.

DOLA Grant for Airport Property Planning
The City will be awarded a $87,500 grant from the the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and the Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Program. This grant funding will be used for the Airport Property Scenario Planning project to determine the best use for the airport land.

Grant Application Open
Each year, the City of Glenwood Springs allocates a portion of sales tax revenues from its A&I and Tourism Funds to award grantee submissions for human services, special events, tourism promotion and other public purposes as City Council deems appropriate. The Financial Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council.

South Canyon Bike Trail Construction
Construction has begun on the new South Canyon Bike Trails. Approximately 5.5 miles of improved and new trails will provide options for biking, hiking, and running. The trails are expected to open to the public in June of 2018.

Area Wide Community Workshop
The City of Glenwood Springs invites community members to review and provide feedback on the Glenwood: Moving Forward Together project on March 20, 2018. This project is part of the U.S. EPA Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Effort.

Press Release: City Awarded DOLA Grant for 27th St Bridge
The City of Glenwood Springs has received a $950,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs’ (DOLA) Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance funds for the replacement of the 27th Street Bridge and road improvements to the 27th Street and South Grand Avenue intersection.

CONE ZONES: July Road Closures in Glenwood Springs
Construction crews will be completing utility and roadway improvements starting on July 7, 2017.
July 11 – 31: Full closure of Donegan Road East of Sunny Acres Drive and West of Highlands Drive for utility installations associated with the Oasis Creek Apartments. The depths and locations of utilities require a full closure to the public. Detour route is provided at Soccer Field Road.

Support emergency vehicles during Grand Avenue Bridge closure
During the Grand Avenue Bridge (GAB) detour, emergency services will be fully operational. Emergency services providers along the I-70 corridor and Roaring Fork Valley are working together to respond to your emergency in the quickest, most efficient way possible.

Summer of Music Enters 7th Season
The Summer of Music Series will continue as always! The bands are booked. The vendors are on board. The sound engineer will be ready. The weather will be beautiful (well ok….maybe). And the City of Glenwood Springs will assist the Summer of Music Committee with hosting the Summer of Music Series as the popular event enters its 7th season.

Ride Glenwood Springs - Operational Plan Public Meeting
The City is updating the 5 year Operations plan for Ride Glenwood Springs, the City-funded local bus service. The City will be holding a brief presentation followed by discussion on Tuesday, April 5, at 5:30 pm at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

New Finance Director Joins City
The City of Glenwood Springs is pleased to welcome Steve Boyd as the City’s new Finance Director. Boyd, who is originally from the area and graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1987, started his position with the City on March 1, 2017.

Glenwood Springs Welcomes 2016 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on Nov. 17 with Free Public Event
The City of Glenwood Springs and the White River National Forest are excited to welcome the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on Nov. 17 with a free event at Centennial Park between Grand Avenue and Cooper Street on 9th Street. The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an 80 foot Englemann spruce, is visiting Glenwood Springs from the Payette National Forest in Idaho on its way to Washington D.C.

6th St. Master Plan Draft Comment Period Open through Nov. 11
The City of Glenwood Springs’ master planning study of the 6th Street corridor has reached its first milestone, with the draft document available for public comment. The draft master plan is out for public review and the final draft is expected to be finalized in January 2017. The plan can be found at www.cogs.us/6thStreet

West Midland to be CLOSED overnight on Oct. 13 - 2016/10/04
The City is anticipating traffic impacts to west Midland on Oct.13-14 as crews place a 120-foot long pedestrian bridge crossing of Midland Avenue, just south of the railroad bridge. The bridge is part of construction of the West Midland Multi-Use Path intended to provide a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists from the Glenwood Springs Middle School to downtown Glenwood to use during the Grand Avenue Bridge detour in 2017 and beyond.

City offices closed for Memorial Day (2016-05-26)
City of Glenwood Springs administrative offices including city hall and the community center, and non-emergency services, will be closed to the public on Monday, May 30, 2016 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Traffic Light Out at 14th and Grand
A DUI crash in Three Mile Creek near the Glenwood Park entrance is expected to cause traffic disruptions in that area on Sunday, September 30.
