Motorists should anticipate daytime traffic impacts on Midland Ave. on Dec. 14-16 as crews place a pedestrian bridge across the Roaring Fork River between 14th and 15th Streets. Periodic one-lane closures will take place on Midland between 8th Street and 27th Street to accommodate crane and bridge delivery, crane setup, and the installation of the pedestrian bridge segments. Lane closures are expected to start at 8 a.m. and continue through 6 p.m. Drivers are asked to take 8th Street, 27th Street and Grand Avenue as alternate routes.
The 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge will provide residents of neighborhoods across the river with a safe, efficient, and ADA accessible bike/pedestrian crossing for use during the Grand Avenue Bridge detour and beyond. The expected completion is late Spring/Early summer 2017.
The Atkinson Trail will be closed to through traffic from 8th Street to 27th Street during the work on Dec.14-16.
Work on the project is expected to continue throughout the month of December. However, no additional traffic impacts are anticipated.
