CDOT has begun installation of a new storm sewer pipe near the railroad tracks beneath 7th Street from Cooper to Colorado Avenues.
Project:
Following Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) approval, CDOT has begun installation of a new storm sewer pipe along the south side of the railroad tracks to the west of the Amtrak station. The excavation and pipe installation work is roughly located between Cooper Avenue and Colorado Avenue on the railroad platform. Most of the work will occur on the UPRR platform and out of the roadway.
The project is estimated to be approximately 8 weeks in duration. Work is scheduled to take place Monday-Friday, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to limit the impact of Amtrak station access and schedules. The Amtrak platform will not be affected during normal working hours.
Traffic Impact:
In late November, near the end of the project, there will be a period lasting approximately a week during which 7th Street will be in an alternating one-way configuration to allow for the final tie-in east of 7th Street Station (elevator building).
