South Hyland Park Drive Water Line Replacement Project

Traffic and Access Impacts

The City of Glenwood Springs will be adding/replacing the water line beneath South Hyland Drive beginning October 7, 2020 with a goal of completing work by October 30, 2020 weather permitting. The work will impact access and parking.  The reason for the work is there is no water line in South Hyland park Drive, business are currently supplied water from an old 2” case iron pipe that runs from Blake Avenue which has multiple failures each year and is due for replacement. The new pipeline will also help with water supply redundancy and water quality in the area.

Major impacts include:

  • South Hyland Park Drive closed to thru traffic Monday – Friday, 7AM to 5PM.
  • Detour signs on CO 82 will indicate no left/right hand turns onto South Hyland Park Drive.
  • Parking area adjacent to the Tennis courts will be closed due to construction staging.
  • Limited business access, but access will be allowed for clients.

South Hyland Park Drive will be closed to thru access for the entire duration of the construction Monday through Friday 7AM to 5PM, with limited access available for business located on South Hyland drive. Parking for 406 Hyland Park Drive businesses will be impacted periodically as the project progresses from west to east, but crews will maintain parking as much as possible. The work will begin at the west end of South Hyland moving towards Blake Avenue. Crews will make every accommodation possible to keep access to these businesses and their parking.

Crews will be staging out of the parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts in Sayre Park. This parking area will be closed to the public. the parking lot to the East near Blake will remain open until construction eliminates access as the work progresses.
