[ARCHIVED] Grand Avenue Bridge Update - March 25 to April 2

CDOT has released its Traffic Impacts and Construction Activity update for the week of Friday, March 25th through Saturday, April 2nd.

New Traffic Impacts

On the Grand Avenue Bridge


Friday, March 25th – One lane closed in each direction from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 29th – One lane closed in each direction from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The one lane closures are necessary to stage a large truck for pier foundation work.

Interstate-70 Eastbound Closure at Exit 116


I-70 eastbound lanes including the eastbound on-ramp will be CLOSED on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:30 pm – Thursday, March 31st at 4:00 am. This closure is required to move drilling equipment to a new drilling location slightly west of the GAB on the north side of the Colorado River. I-70 Exit 116 eastbound off-ramp will remain open during this time to access the Grand Avenue Bridge.

Exit 116 (Main Glenwood Exit)


Eastbound on-ramp will remain CLOSED through Thursday, March 31st.
Eastbound off-ramp will remain in a one lane configuration through Thursday, March 31st. The eastbound off-ramp will be re-opened to two lanes of traffic Friday, April 1st.
Westbound off-ramp will be in a one lane configuration through Friday, April 1st.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

7th St. from Colorado Avenue to Cooper Street


Both lanes remain closed to traffic. Heavy equipment and construction vehicles are working under the Grand Avenue Bridge for the 7th Street Plaza utility project.

River Street


Access from Laurel is restricted to construction traffic only. Traffic control is in the area.
Access from the Historic Hot Springs District remains open.

Interstate 70 Eastbound Exit 116 One Lane


The south eastbound lane at Exit 116 will be reduced to one lane of traffic for approximately 2,000 ft. This will be the condition for throughout Phase II. Speed limit reduced to 40 mph in this area.
Pedestrian Update

Two Rivers Pedestrian Bridge


The Two Rivers Park pedestrian bridge is anticipated to open the week of March 28th.

Construction Activities for the Week
Excavating activities for the north pedestrian bridge landing.
Traffic bridge substructure work - form north abutment landing for traffic bridge.
Form and pour columns for the north pedestrian bridge piers along the north river bank.

Crews continue water line install along the 7th Street Plaza.
