The Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District announced spring grant recipients this morning. Glenwood Springs received two grant awards totaling $375,000.
The City received a Traditional Grant Program award of $350,000 for the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge project. The grant will help fund the completion of the project, which included relocation of a section of the former Grand Avenue Pedestrian Bridge for use in connecting Midland Avenue to the Rio Grande Trail. According to Public Works Director Robin Millyard, the grant award ensures completion of the project during 2016.
The City’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) also received an award of $25,000 from the Mini Grant Program. The DDA will use the grant to replace and make upgrades to the landscape planters used in the downtown area. The project will fund the replacement of 65 plastic pots with concrete pots and the re-facing of 10 planters along Grand Avenue. The project will significantly improve the appearance of the City’s downtown area
