Traffic Bridge North Abutment Pour
The first permanent structures of the new traffic bridge will start to take shape this week. The contractor will pour concrete for north abutment for the traffic bridge in the later part of the week. Stay tuned for images on our Facebook page.
Roadwork continues on I-70 Exit 114 (West Glenwood) Interchange
The Exit 114 interchange will be in a one-lane configuration. Expect construction activities on the westbound on-ramp and eastbound off-ramp. These one-lane closures are necessary for Exit 114 improvements preceding the 2017 traffic bridge detour.
Exit 116 (Main Glenwood to Aspen exit) will remain open.
On the Grand Avenue Bridge
Expect periodic one-lane closures on the Grand Avenue Bridge daily. This work is necessary to allow construction vehicles to access the 7th St. utility project.
Weekend construction activities are planned through the end of the month.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Exit 116 westbound off-ramp
The Exit 116 (Main Glenwood to Aspen exit) westbound off-ramp is in a one lane configuration. This one lane closure is necessary for a storm drain utility project.
7th St. from Colorado Avenue to Cooper Avenue
Both lanes remain closed to traffic. Heavy equipment and construction vehicles are working under the Grand Avenue Bridge for the 7th Street Plaza utility project.
River Street
Access from Laurel is restricted to construction traffic only. Traffic control is in the area. Access from the Historic Hot Springs District remains open.
Interstate 70 Eastbound Exit 116 One Lane
The south eastbound lane at Exit 116 will be reduced to one lane of traffic for approximately 2,000 ft. This will be the condition for throughout Phase II. Speed limit reduced to 40 mph in this area.
Pedestrian and Trails
Pedestrian access from the Historic Hot Springs District to downtown Glenwood Springs remains open. Pedestrians should use the pedestrian walkway to access downtown. Cyclists are reminded to dismount on the pedestrian walkway, as the summer tourist season is quickly approaching.
