[ARCHIVED] City Council Accepting Applications to Fill Remainder of Ward 1 Term

Applications due to City Clerk by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 11

Glenwood Springs City Council will begin immediately taking applications to fill the Ward 1 council vacancy which ends in April 2023. Applications are now open and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022. City Council will host interviews with eligible applicants on Thursday, February 17. Pursuant to the City Charter, Council is required to appoint a replacement within 30 days after a vacancy occurs.


Applicants must have resided within the boundaries of voting Ward 1 and been a registered voter in the City of Glenwood Springs for one year. Voting Ward 1 generally includes portions of west and downtown Glenwood (south of the Colorado River and west of Grand Avenue to 14th Street) and Midland Avenue to just past 27th Street. Appointment of City Councilors by Council occurs when the vacancy occurs more than ninety days before the next general municipal election. The appointee shall be selected by a majority vote of Council and such appointment shall be made within thirty days after such vacancy occurs. All such appointments shall be until a successor is elected and qualified at the next general municipal election. The next general municipal election will be in April 2023.
