The City of Glenwood Springs River Commission is hosting the annual river cleanup and celebration on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Two Rivers Park. The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park/Iron Mountain Hot Springs RiverFEST2022 will begin with cleanup at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration at 12 p.m. to include refreshments, a catered picnic with food from El Taco Express, live music from Stray Grass, and prizes for all volunteers. Volunteers over the age of 21 may also enjoy a refreshing beer provided free by Casey Brewing and Blending.
“This event is all about coming together to tidy our river areas and to celebrate as a community,” said River Commission Staff Liaison Trent Hyatt. “I think that something we are all craving is to get out and connect with our neighbors, and this is a great way to do that while giving back to the spaces that help make our home special.”
The cleanup will involve trash collection along the riverbanks either on the ground or by float. Educational and recreational vendors will also be onsite. Community members can also join for lunch after the cleanup with a donation to support future river cleanup efforts. Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required.
"The more volunteers we have, the more areas we can reach. All are welcome to join in the festivities, so we hope to see you there,” Hyatt added.
