The $60,000 revenue from the parking garage rental from February 23 through March 6 will be appropriated towards critical maintenance and repairs of the parking garage. Approximately $408,000 of immediately necessary work including deck and drainage repairs to the garage have been identified by staff and the new revenue will go towards completing that work this year. The remainder of the construction and repair costs will be funded by the city’s Capital Projects fund.
The parking garage rental request came in from Hotel Colorado, on behalf of guests who will be staying there. With February being in Glenwood’s shoulder season and historically being the slowest month for local businesses, new visitors can help inject support of local business, economic activity and vitality into our community through guest dining, shopping and attraction visits in the city over the two-week period of their stay.
Closure Details
Both the lower level and the upper level of the parking garage at 9th Street and Cooper Avenue will be closed to the public for beginning at 12:01 a.m. (midnight) Thursday, February 23 through 8 p.m. on Monday, March 6. All vehicles must be moved from the garage before 12:01 a.m. on February 23 or may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Alternate Parking
During the closure, Hotel Colorado parking lots will be open to the public for no charge. This includes the parking lot above the hotel near 5th Street, the former Fiesta Guadalajara parking lot, the former KFC parking lot, and the Maple Street parking lot which is located directly behind Summit Canyon on Maple Street.
Alternate downtown parking options can be found at cogs.us/ParkDowntown. Check parking signage to ensure you follow time limits to avoid parking fines. For questions, contact Bryana Starbuck at bryana.starbuck@cogs.us or 970-384-6441.
